Cannabis Science in final negotiations to set up first medical cannabis facilities in Canada

Cannabis Science, a US-based company specializing in cannabis formulation-based drug development and related consulting, is in the final stages of launching a new joint venture (JV) company.

The new JV company will be used for acquiring, financing, building, owning and operating medical cannabis facilities, including dispensaries and growing operations, throughout Canada.

According to the company, the JV has the potential to expand its operations outside of the US as well as enable its entry and expansion into Canada’s marketplace.

Cannabis Science director and General Counsel Chad Johnson said acquiring cannabis facilities in Canada represents a compelling business opportunity developed through the company’s focus on collaborative innovation and takes one of its international initiatives to the next level.

"We are excited to be working jointly with our partners, which allows us to leverage our respective global research knowledge and resources to facilitate the Canadian operations," Johnson said.

"The Company also intends to use these facilities for research and development purposes in addition to the selling of the cannabis products under relevant laws and regulations."
