Cannabis Science, MEDIWIET to conduct clinical observational study in Netherlands

Cannabis Science (CBIS), a US-based firm specializing in the development of cannabis based medicines, has entered into an agreement with MEDIWIET Patient Organization to carry out a joint observational trial in the Netherlands.

MEDIWIET is a Dutch organization of patients using medicinal cannabis based medication.

Main aim of the trial is to further advance the knowledge of cannabis plant based product applications in several human disease conditions.

The initiation of the trial will be carried out following the approval from the Dutch regulators and data from it will be published in a peer reviewed scientific journal.

Cannabis Science president of European Operations and director Mario Lap said the company is happy to start work on the observational clinical study with patients who use medicinal cannabis.

"The long-term effects of using medicinal cannabis continue to be a subject of an ongoing debate. It is very important that we provide further scientific evidence for the benefit of patients and medical professionals alike," Lap said.
